Sawa, John E. - Trooper First Class, 40 years old, 4 years and 8 months of service from July 6, 1982 to March 10, 1987. While parked in the median of Interstate 95 exchanging information with a supervisor, Troopers Sawa and Small were struck while in their vehicle by a tractor-trailer which ran off the road. Both were killed. Incident occurred on 1-95 at the Havre de Grace interchange northbound.
